BUV Support Hub

The BUV Support Hub is a central team who serve our wider BUV by providing support, training, equipping and resources to pastors and leaders of Baptist churches and agencies throughout Victoria.

Our mission is to encourage, empower and equip our local churches to advance the Kingdom of God in Victoria.

 The Director of Mission and Ministries, Rev Daniel Bullock, is responsible for leading and managing the Support Hub team.

Rev Daniel Bullock,
Director of Mission & Ministries

Daniel offers strong leadership and strategic direction oversight of the Baptist Union of Victoria and its Support Hub. Previous pastoral roles in several Baptist churches provided experience and enhancement of his skills in strategy, preaching, teaching, staff development and coaching of emerging leaders. Daniel’s deep commitment not only to mission but also his personal spiritual rhythms and ongoing academic and professional study, ensure he serves all stakeholders and indeed the wider Baptist family with maximum effectiveness.

Rev Beth Jackson,
Head of Ordination

Beth carries the dual roles of the Head of the Mission Catalyst Team and the Head of Ordination. She loves journeying with those who are moving through the formation process toward Ordination as they seek to lead churches and plant churches who are on mission with God to bring life, hope and joy to their communities.

Liah Coombs,
Executive Assistant to the Director of Mission and Ministries

Liah provides administrative and management assistance to support Daniel (Director of Mission & Ministries) in the achievement of his strategic goals and responsibilities. This role is the first point of contact for the DoMM and senior management. Liah’s knowledge of the BUV is extensive after working for the Support Hub for over 10 years in various roles.  Liah has a heart for mission which has led to additional community and charity work.

Mission Catalyst Team

The goal of the Mission Catalyst Team is to encourage, equip and empower church missional initiatives, facilitate partnerships and champion the church planting focus supporting the BUV’s 50 year vision to be a union of 500 flourishing churches.

Rev Beth Jackson,
Head of Mission Catalyst

Beth carries the dual roles of the Head of the Mission Catalyst Team and the Head of Ordination. She loves journeying with those who are moving through the formation process toward Ordination as they seek to lead churches and plant churches who are on mission with God to bring life, hope and joy to their communities.

Danny Ang, 
Mission Catalyst

Danny champions the Mission Grant process, facilitating churches to secure vital funding from application to acquittal. He is passionate in church planting initiatives, fostering church planter pipelines and learning cohorts, enhancing community engagement through grassroots placemaking and delivering impactful performance coaching.

Andrew Naylor,
Mission Catalyst

In keeping with the BUV’s vision to see new churches and faith communities emerge across Victoria, Andrew is overseeing a Church Planting Learning Community. This cohort is part of an intentionally coordinated process where church planters and their developing teams can learn with and from each other.

Junho Cho,
Church Planter

As a member of the BUV mission team, Junho supports new church plants in the Victoria region and is preparing for a multicultural church plant in Melbourne. As an ordained Reverend with the BUV, he is dedicated to building communities that connect diverse cultures, and passionate about helping new leaders and churches flourish.

Germaine Liew,
Administration Assistant

Germaine has a decade of ministry work at a large Baptist church and prior to that, 13 years in the Corporate IT. She now works on administering the Ordination and Missions processes and events at the BUV. She enjoys meeting the Ordinands at various stages of the pathway and being part of the Missions work that BUV is engaged in. She has been part of the BUV team since 2023 and is encouraged by the efforts by her colleagues to encourage, train and develop staff across the Baptist churches across Victoria.

Church Health & Capacity Building Team

The goal of the Church Health and Capacity Building team is to maximise the number of flourishing churches within our Baptist Union by helping churches to have healthy and thriving church leaders, effective and empowering governance and structures and processes, and a culture of safety and integrity

Rev David Devine,
Head of Church Health & Capacity Building

After a short career in Accountancy, David was ordained in South Australia and for 25 years served in Pastoral roles in several contexts including a large contemporary church, a revitalised traditional church and a church with extensive community engagement. He has led the Church Health & Capacity Building Team since 2012. David is Chair of the BUV Professional Standards Group.

Brenda Williams,
Professional Standards Consultant

Brenda has served as the BUV Professional Standards Consultant (PSC) since 2004. The role is part of the BUV Professional Standards Group and oversees the BUV Complaints and Person of Concern processes, responses to the National Redress Scheme and advises Pastors and Leaders as they deal with the complexities of these matters in their Churches.

Rev Robyn Song,
Intercultural Church Health Consultant

Robyn’s work involves supporting, nurturing, and celebrating the vibrant life of LOTE churches and their leaders. She enjoys collaborating with churches to explore and cultivate intercultural partnerships within the broader BUV community. After serving as a Pastor in Baptist churches for over 20 years, Robyn joined the BUV staff in 2025.

Jessen Yeoh,
Intercultural Church Consultant

As a Multicultural Church Consultant, Jessen is supporting LOTE churches to improve ministries efficiency & effectiveness as well as organizational character. Jessen originally trained as a civil & structural engineer.  He has more than 20 years of experience in coaching organisation improvements in Asia, China and Australasia regions. Before joining the BUV, Jessen served as pastor for NewHope Baptist Church Chinese Ministry. 

Rev Mark Wilkinson,
Church Health Consultant

Mark consults with churches around doing Church Health Reviews, the church’s Vision, Governance and Constitution. He works also with churches considering mergers. He loves the church in all its diversity working with churches large and small; rural and suburban. He also works with churches considering mergers. Rev Martin Boutros
Church Health Consultant

Martin has worked for over forty years in a range of senior ministry roles in congregations denominations and para-church agencies. He has extensive experience in leadership training and in church consulting roles. He is passionate about enabling local churches to live out the way of Jesus in an increasingly post-Christian culture. He believes we will need to find the courage and vision to creatively reach out with fresh expressions of church.

Charlene Delos Santos,
Intercultural Generations Coordinator

Charlene supports emerging generations and leaders from the BUV’s LOTE churches. She organises the Multicultural Ignite conferences, retreats, and training events. She holds a Bachelor of Social Science (Youth Work) and Graduate Diploma in Theology from Whitley College. 

Vicky Dyer,
Safe Church Consultant

Vicky Dyer has a passion for supporting churches to become safer, more welcoming and more inclusive. She has a background in both social work and administration.

Nathaniel Stephens,
Administration Assistant

Nathaniel assists the finance and administration department, providing support and record-keeping of information. He is a point of contact for all church, finance and general enquiries and will assist in guiding you to the appropriate BUV department to help resolve an enquiry.  He also provides administrative support the Church Health & Capacity Building department for general enquiries and for our Creating Safe Spaces program.

Rev Jonathan Stark,
Head of Pastoral Leadership Support & Development

Jonathan leads a team of experienced pastors who support and develop Victorian Baptist pastoral leaders to flourish. He is committed to helping pastors become exceptional leaders who are continually growing in an environment of support and accountability. He is a member of the BUV leadership team and the Chair of the Pastoral Search Advisory Group. Jonathan can be best reached through his Personal Assistant, Christine.

Rev Robert Hayman, 
Regional Pastor – Eastern

Robert has the privilege of journeying with Pastors and Leaders of Churches during the good times, the more challenging times as well as through times of transition. He has a heart to help Pastors and Churches to flourish. He has been in pastoral ministry for over 30 years, is a father and grandfather and enjoys playing golf.

Rev Graeme Semple,
Regional Pastor – Western

Graeme is the Regional Pastor for the Western half of Victoria. His role involves supporting and encouraging Pastors individually and through networks. He is also the first contact for local churches in seeking assistance or help from the BUV Hub. Graeme has been part of the BUV Hub since 2013 and enjoys supporting Pastors, and speaking at local churches.

Rev Joshua Teo,
Regional Pastor – Metro

Joshua supports pastors and churches across culturally diverse communities in the metro area. He is passionate about cultivating flourishing pastors and healthy churches through leadership development, pastoral care, and strategic guidance. A local pastor himself, Joshua enjoys preaching, mentoring leaders, and spending time with his family at Radiant Church in Melbourne.

Rev Bret Mitchell
Regional Pastor – Metro

Brett supports our Melbourne Metro Pastors to strengthen and encourage them to flourish in their local Church. Providing support, inspiration and care, Regional Pastors are to be a Pastors first port of call to access support and services from the B.U.V. support hub. Brett has served in a variety of roles and has close to four decades of pastoral leadership experience.

Kimberly Smith, Generations and Emerging Leaders Pastor

Kimberly serves our BUV family through her investment in Pastors and Leaders in Generations ministries, and encouragement of our churches to be thinking and acting generationally. She draws on over 14 years of experience as an Associate Pastor (Generations and Church Life) at Werribee Baptist Church to offer support, resource and teaching. She is a gifted preacher, writer, and training facilitator. 

Rev Dr Bill Brown,
Pastoral Coach

Bill’s role involves developing leadership tracks for emerging leaders, communities of practice and networks for senior and associate pastors, encouraging, supporting, and supervising pastors. In addition, Bill is also Pastor Emeritus of the Syndal Baptist Church with whom he also served as Senior Pastor for 33 years and an Associate Pastor for 10 years.  

Christine Chew
Personal Assistant to Head of PLS&D

Christine works alongside Jonathan, helping things run smoothly behind the scenes. She handles key processes like the Pastoral Search Advisory Group, Pastoral Accreditation, Professional Pastoral Supervision, and marriage licensing. Her attention to detail and organisation helps the PLS&D team support pastors and churches across Victoria.

Finance and Admin

The Finance and Administration Team ensures that BUV assets are well stewarded and managed, and churches and stakeholders receive the support they need to thrive through governance oversight, risk management, property and facility management and HR and legal support.

Debbie Uy
Director of Finance and Administration

Debbie is the Director of Finance & Administration, and the Secretary and Public Officer of the Union. She oversees the strategic management of BUV’s financial resources and provides legal, property, governance, IT and HR support to stakeholders. Debbie has an extensive corporate and not-for-profit community service background, specialising in strategic and operational functions across administration, risks, finance, HR and governance. 

Simon Taylor,
Finance Manager

Simon is responsible for the preparation of all financial reporting at the BUV – both the internal management accounting and the external statutory reporting. He is a currently Treasurer at Mooroolbark Baptist Church and Surrey Hills Baptist ELC. Simon is a CPA and holds a Bachelor of Business from Swinburne University.

James Lee,
Accounts Payable Accountant

James oversees the outgoing payments to our churches, suppliers and vendors. He also administers the Ministerial Long Service Leave Savings Scheme (MLSL) and Refugee Airfare & Assistance Loan Scheme (RAALS). James assists with all stipends, exempt benefits and superannuation recommendation matters that assist Victorian Baptist Churches in supporting their Pastors. CPA

Mele Alo 
Administration Manager

Mele manages all of administration and provides assistance to churches for all property and Schedule B related enquiries. She is the main point of contact for churches wanting to sell, purchase or lease property, as well as for those wanting to access trust funds for capital works and non-capital matters.

Mark Lim
Administration Manager

Mark manages all of administration and provides assistance to churches for all property and Schedule B related enquiries. He is the main point of contact for churches wanting to sell, purchase or lease property, as well as for those wanting to access trust funds for capital works and non-capital matters.

Barbara Wu
Accounts Receivable Accountant 

Barbara oversees invoicing our churches and vendors, as well as managing our accounts receivable. She has a strong corporate finance background with multi-national companies and local not-for-profit organisations and is well equipped to handle any enquiries about invoices and account statements.

Joyce Marianen,
Office Manager

Joyce coordinates the BUV office and liaises with our building suppliers and assists churches with Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and BeSafe processes. She has an extensive background in operations and compliance and is the first point of contact at the BUV reception for all enquiries.

Marita Munro,
Archivist

Marita looks after all of our Victorian Baptist Churches records, history, photographs and files that the BUV archives have received. She has vast historical knowledge and assists the BUV in safe record-keeping of physical church documents, and is the point of contact for the Victorian Baptist Historical Society (VBHS)

Communications

The Communications Team informs, inspires, resources and connects church leaders and pastors through communication channels, events and training and by maintaining accurate database records to support engagement and connection.

Melissa Rule,
Head of Communications

Melissa has worked in marketing and communications for over 30 years with both not for profit and corporate experience, including Marketing Manager, Cadbury Schweppes. She has also consulted across sectors while operating her own marketing services business.  Melissa joined the BUV Support Hub team in 2012 and has been in the role of Head of Communications since 2018 which includes responsibility for the BUV’s Communications, Events and Training and Partnerships. Melissa is also member of Leadership Team.

Louise Richmond,
Events and Training Coordinator

Louise joined the Communications team at the BUV in 2018 and plays a key role in coordinating events and training, as well as supporting the systems behind BUV’s communications and operations. She enjoys meeting and welcoming members of our Baptist family at our events.

Merryn Gray,
Communications Coordinator

Merryn’s work involves working with website, the collation of the BUV Bulletins along with designing and creating the visual elements for events, resources and publications. She has been part of the BUV team since 2022, and enjoys working on the individual creative elements that make up the whole picture and identity of a project.

Nicci Banfield
Administration Assistant

Nicci’s work involves supporting the Communications Team gather and publish the stories from and for our greater Baptist Union.  Her work involves finding stories, social media posting and coordinating our e-magazine Together.  In addition, she provides administrative support to the whole Communications Team. Nicci has been with the BUV since December 2023.
