The Reportable Conduct Scheme was established to improve organisations’ responses to allegations of harm to children by their workers and volunteers. The Commission for Children and Young People (CCYP) is responsible for administering the scheme.
If there is an allegation that a staff member, volunteer or contractor of your church has engaged in ‘reportable conduct’ against any child, then the Reportable Conduct Scheme needs to be notified by the local church. Any person can make a report to the scheme, however the ‘head of entity’ (usually the church secretary) has the ultimate responsibility to pass on notifications about any reportable conduct. The BUV strongly recommends the local church also notify the BUV Professional Standards Consultant if a report is made about one of their leaders/attendees.
